TCI “Goes Over the Top”

January 1st, 2010

And we mean that literally! Our steady growth over the years had put our shop in a real pinch.  We were running 3 shifts to eliminate congestion but the growing pains were catching up with us.  Building a quality product safely and efficiently, accommodating continued growth, and meeting our delivery deadlines became the driving force behind the construction of our new shop facility.  We began tear down and prep work in May of 2007 and actual construction started in June.  Careful planning went into this venture as TCI had an extensive backlog of work.  We had to continue manufacturing during the building construction.  As you can see from the photos, the perimeter structures were removed to clear the way for footings to be poured.  The new structure was erected over the top of the existing building.  Once the new building was enclosed the old shop came down section by section.  Outside, landscaping was taking shape and fencing around the property was put up.  We converted a building of the old shop into inventory storage.  Inside steel racks were set up, steel pits were covered and 2) 5 ton overhead cranes were installed. The existing shop equipment was put in place and a 65′ L x 18′ W x 16′ H paint booth followed a few weeks later.  By early 2008 our 26,000 sq. ft. facility was complete and fully operational.  The company didn’t miss a beat and was able to continue manufacturing throughout the entire process.  We are proud to have accomplished our goal of providing a safer work environment for our employees along with a facility that is efficient for manufacturing.

Safety and Quality is a Personal Responsibility

January 1st, 2010

Safety and quality is a personal responsibility!  Seven words that we strive to make our goal here at TCI Manufacturing and Equipment Sales.  My name is Bev Lindsay, I am the Safety Coordinator at TCI.  I am rather new to the safety industry but I continue to learn and expand my safety education.  I believe that the willingness to learn can lead us down any path that may arise.  At TCI, we believe that it is our employee’s responsibility to perform their job in the safest possible manner each and every day.  We help them achieve this goal by providing safety meetings and training on a continual basis.  A safety consultant firm works with us to ensure our compliance and to help keep us informed of new laws and regulations.  By incorporating safety into our daily production, we believe our quality of work will also benefit.  We hope that by making safety and quality a personal responsibility of our employees it will empower them to perform at their highest levels.
